Mid Week Music Series

Mid Week Music
Location:
Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis
Date:
Wednesday, November 4, 2020 - 12:45pm

On the first Wednesday of each month, the Cathedral presents a "Midweek Music" organ recital. Our next Midweek Music is scheduled for Wednesday, November 4.  NOTE NEW TIME:  Due to the addition of a special archdiocesan event to the calendar, this month's Midweek Music concert will begin immediately following the 12:05 pm Mass on November 4.

These recitals feature 20-30 minutes of music on our magnificent Cathedral organ. In November, Cathedral organist Ben Blasingame will present the music of various fall festivals that occur around this time of year. We’ll embrace the lighthearted fun of the “Hallowed Eve before All Saints Day” with a celebration of Christ’s purification of the church with Max Reger’s boisterous and brief “Ein Feste Burg”. The theme continues with a 19th century character piece representing the sequence text for All Souls Day, “Dies Irae”, as well as a celebration of the ascension of saints through faith in Christ’s resurrection with Jehan Alain’s Litanies.

We invite you to join us in-person or enjoy online via our livestream.  The recital is free and open to all, however please note: the wearing of masks and other social distancing guidelines remain in effect for in-person attendance.
