Consecration of Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary

On the Feast of the Annunciation, Pope Francis will consecrate Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary during a penance service at St. Peter’s Basilica. Each day, we are met with news stories and images of the people in Ukraine and Russia who are suffering greatly.
It is important for us to join as a community in prayer for those who are enduring great loss and tragedy in their homes and amongst their families. Turning our prayers to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, who so clearly understands the deep sorrow and pain of those who hurt, we pray for peace and for the conversion of Russia.
The consecration will take place during the Celebration of Penance service in Rome. You are encouraged to join in prayer the days leading up to the consecration by praying to Our Lady of Fatima; who, during one of Our Lady’s appearances, asked that Russia be consecrated to her Immaculate Heart.
The Act of Consecration for the Cathedral Basilica will take place this Friday, March 25 at 12:05 Mass in St. Cecilia Chapel. This Mass will also be livestreamed.
