In the liturgical tradition of the Church, the color red holds profound significance, especially on Pentecost Sunday. It symbolizes the tongues of fire that descended upon the Apostles, as recounted in the Acts of the Apostles (2:1-4).

The color red also represents the transformative power of the Holy Spirit, which sets our hearts ablaze with love, courage, and zeal to live out our faith and share the Gospel with others.

By wearing red, we unite as a community of believers, filled with the same Spirit that empowered the early Church. It serves as a visible sign of the fire of God’s love within us and our mission to be witnesses of Christ’s love in the world.

As you prepare for Mass this Pentecost Sunday, the Church invites you to join in wearing red as a symbol of our shared faith, the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives, and our commitment to spreading the message of God’s love to all.

May the Holy Spirit fill our hearts with peace, joy, and courage as we celebrate this sacred feast together.
